The person behind the portfolio
Built from conviction. Managed with rules.
After years of applying trend-following rules to spot Bitcoin, Evan Medeiros launched Galahad in February 2024, the month after spot Bitcoin ETFs debuted. The idea was simple: build a long-term portfolio around the assets he had the strongest conviction in, while using systematic rules to manage exposure when market conditions changed.
Evan invests in the Galahad Portfolio with his own capital.

Frequently asked questions
How is Galahad different from buy and hold?
Galahad combines a long-term core portfolio with adaptive trend positions and portfolio-wide risk controls. Rather than maintaining the same exposure through every market environment, the strategy can reduce risk when conditions weaken and increase participation when trends strengthen.
What does rules-based mean for Galahad?
Portfolio decisions are guided by predefined rules rather than forecasts, headlines, or emotion. Those rules determine when to rebalance, adjust trend exposure, add or remove hedges, and change overall portfolio risk.
How often will I need to make changes?
Galahad is designed for long holding periods and low turnover. Most days require no action, and there are typically only a couple of portfolio adjustments per month. When a change is needed, updates are published after the market close with clear instructions for the next trading session.
Is Galahad fully automated?
No. Galahad provides model allocations, portfolio updates, and trade instructions, but you place and manage orders in your own brokerage account. Margin is preferred for the most flexible implementation, but it is not required.
Do I need special software or a particular broker?
No special software or code is required. You can follow Galahad through your own brokerage account, although certain instruments such as leveraged ETFs, futures, or options may require specific broker permissions or account types.
Can I follow Galahad in a retirement account?
Yes. Galahad can be followed in a retirement account, and the exact implementation depends on how you choose to express portfolio exposure. Members may use leveraged ETFs, futures, options, or other available instruments depending on their broker, account type, and permissions.
What risks should I understand?
Galahad can experience losses and meaningful drawdowns, and no risk-management process can eliminate market risk. Trend rules, reduced exposure, cash, and protective hedges are designed to help manage difficult periods, but they do not eliminate the possibility of substantial losses.
How do holding periods affect taxes?
Galahad includes core positions that may be held for many years, with only occasional rebalancing. Those rebalances will often involve long-term capital gains, while the adaptive trend positions can produce a mix of short- and long-term gains depending on how long each position is held. Tax treatment also depends on the account type and instruments used.
What happens after the 14-day trial?
The trial gives you access to Galahad and the other included member tools for 14 days. It ends automatically and does not convert into a paid subscription unless you choose to join afterward.
Galahad provides model portfolio allocations, trading signals, and trading tools for informational and educational purposes. These materials are not personalized investment advice and do not account for your individual financial circumstances, objectives, or risk tolerance. You are responsible for your investment decisions and for placing and managing orders in your own brokerage account. Trading involves risk, including loss of capital. Leveraged ETFs, futures, and options involve additional risks; leverage can amplify losses, and futures losses may exceed the funds initially committed. Risk controls, protective hedges, and exit rules do not guarantee that losses will be limited to a specified amount. Portfolio examples illustrate the system’s process and are not a guarantee of future results. Past performance does not guarantee future results. Actual results will vary.
