Trading system commentary
It was a rough April for stocks, bonds, and the Merlin system. We saw the equity market rally stall out, reverse, and close at year-to-date low levels. Merlin continued to exit the small amount of equity positions it still had on and even started a position in gold towards the end of the month.
In terms of relative performance, the best thing that could happen for Merlin going forward is a continued crash in the broad averages to help it outperform on a relative basis given its current positioning (high cash and gold).
Lamorak continues to trade actively on both sides of the market but couldn’t quite string together enough winners to add to its year-to-date gains.
